Notice to Consumers

Request for Records.  Under Texas law, clients have the right to request access to their mental health records maintained by a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFT-Associate). To protect client confidentiality, all record requests must be submitted in writing.  Written forms include email, secure client portal, or mail. The request may be submitted directly to the clinician or the practice.  The clinician/practice has up to 15 days to process the request.

Contact the Council.  For questions about licensure or professional standards, you may contact Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council.
