Family therapy is helpful in addressing issues between family members.  As your children get older, it is common to struggle with the adjustment of roles and responsibilities.  Pertinent family members are encouraged to attend session. However, those who are available or willing can be sufficient in making changes or improvements.

While the objective of family therapy is to have multiple members engage with one another, there are times that individual sessions can be recommended such as with teen counseling or when discussing sensitive subjects like trauma and abuse. It is quite appropriate and normal for your teenager to prefer sessions alone in order to increase his or her level of comfort and motivation in therapy.

Some topics that can be addressed in family therapy are:

  • Behavioral/Academic Problems

  • Blended Family Difficulties

  • Communication Issues

  • Divorce Recovery & Adjustment

  • Life Transitions

  • Parenting & Co-Parenting

  • Peer Relationships

  • Self-Confidence & Self-Esteem Issues
